OUR STORY

Auto House Towing & Recovery got its start in the 1983 as a small auto body shop, where our founders, Galen and Sharon Unruh, repaired wrecked vehicles and ran the office side by side. Their son Chris worked alongside them after school and through summer breaks, learning the business from the ground up.

In 1995, the family bought its first flatbed tow truck, and Chris — then the primary driver — got behind the wheel of a wrecker at just 15 years old. Five years later, at 20, he stepped up to a commercial heavy-duty wrecker after Auto House acquired a retiring towing company's large equipment, expanding the operation from light-duty calls into full-scale heavy-duty towing and recovery.

Chris's younger brother, Eric, joined the business at 18, bringing his own years of experience across light- and heavy-duty work. In 2013, Chris's wife, Stephanie, came on board, taking on a key role in the accounting office while also driving a semi full-time. In 2017, Chris and Eric purchased the company from their parents as Galen and Sharon retired, becoming the second generation to own and run Auto House. The following year, the team added environmental cleanup services, a natural extension of its heavy-duty recovery work.

Today, Auto House is a true family operation. Chris and Eric's sons — Jared, Corbin, and Mac — have all worked alongside them in dispatch, finance, marketing, and driving. Galen and Sharon are still part of the team, staying involved in the office and around the shop.

More than 40 years later, the mission hasn't changed: serve our community with honor, integrity, and experience, and treat every customer the way we'd want to be treated. It's how we treat the drivers and mechanics who work here, too.
